LACCF Student Spotlight: Adam Khalifa

For Los Angeles City College student Adam Khalifa, community college has been more than a stepping stone—it’s been a launchpad for a purpose-driven career. Drawn to LACC’s renowned Kinesiology Department and Personal Training Academy, Adam earned multiple certifications and has already spent over two years working as a personal trainer. Inspired by his athletic family background and guided by mentors like Professor Peter Parasiliti, he found a clear path forward after once feeling uncertain about how to break into the fitness industry.

At LACC, Adam discovered not only strong academic programs but a supportive community. He credits resources like EOPS, the LACC Foundation, and the Writing Center—and the dedication of faculty and staff—for helping him succeed. Now preparing to transfer to CSU Northridge to complete his bachelor’s degree, he aims to pursue physical therapy at USC, train elite athletes, and eventually open his own practice.

His advice to new students is simple: be intentional with your time. “You can do so much in a very short period of time,” he says. When he’s not studying or training clients, Adam can be found cheering on LACC’s Men’s Basketball team, embracing the full spirit of campus life. His journey is a powerful reminder of how passion and persistence can transform opportunity into achievement.
