Student Spotlight: Caitlin Caputo

For Caitlin, attending Los Angeles City College (LACC) was more than an affordable path to higher education, it was the beginning of a journey toward a career in communications. A Hollywood native and Communications major, she chose LACC because it offered the opportunity to pursue her educational goals when attending a four-year university immediately after high school wasn’t financially feasible.

As president of the Broadcast Media Club, Caitlin is committed to creating a welcoming community where students can connect, collaborate, and develop their creative talents. She hopes the organization will continue to thrive long after she graduates, giving future students a place to share ideas and build lasting connections.

The support of the LACC Foundation has played an important role in her success. Through the William Young Scholarship and textbook vouchers, Caitlin has received financial assistance that has helped ease the cost of attending college and allowed her to stay focused on her education.

“Scholarships and textbook assistance make a tremendous difference,” Caitlin said. “They help students stay focused on achieving their goals.”

Caitlin is on track to graduate in Spring 2027 with an Associate of Arts degree in Communications and plans to transfer to UCLA or USC. She hopes to build a career in communications, specializing in social media, marketing, and creative strategy.

Reflecting on her experience, Caitlin encourages others to invest in student success.

“Donating to the LACC Foundation helps students succeed and overcome educational barriers,” she said.

Her story is a powerful reminder that donor support does more than ease financial burdens, it creates opportunities, empowers students, and helps turn educational dreams into lifelong careers.
